Overview

Unix/Windows/Vista Technician responsibilities include:  Local and remote system administration support, system maintenance, installation and configuration of Unix Sun Blade and Windows workstations; Updating Unix NIS Master and Displayback servers; Troubleshooting problems and applying resolutions for 24x7 SLA customer base, SLAs that are due the next business day, and escalated tickets; Resolving desktop problems and service requests locally in the extended Ft. Meade campus and remotely using tools such as SMS, Remote Desktop connection, etc.; Installing software remotely via Marimba; Creating and modifying Groups and Distribution Lists via DRA; and  Following up to ensure completion of work within SLA timeframes.

Immediate long term position.                            (Swing shift, Monday thru Friday        3pm-11pm  CST)                                                                                 

Qualifications

Must meet contract level requirements for appropriate position.  In addition, must have some technical experience in diverse operating systems (Unix/Windows/Vista), hardware platforms, and software packages.  Desired experience:  Unix knowledge and troubleshooting (Solaris 2.6 and 2.8); Unix server knowledge; Familiarity with the Sun Secure Global Desktop environment; Familiarity with Remedy ARS; Familiarity with Marimba and DRA; Computer hardware architecture knowledge; Data/Information architecture; Software installation and troubleshooting; MS Exchange knowledge and troubleshooting; Use and administration experience with MS Office Applications, Active Directory, and Network and Internet Applications.

Must possess good communication and customer service skills; and must be a team player.
